Could your fast food habit harm your fertility?

Many of us are addicted to fast food.  I know I used to be…my daily muffin,  my weekly pizza delivery or my cravings for ice cream were all consuming.  You may know that your diet is harming your fertility or like me you may be totally clueless about the link between diet and fertility.

Either way.  No judgement.  Once you know better, you do better as Maya Angelou says.

I was there, but I’ve kicked the habit and you can too!

Download a free chapter of my book so you know what you need to eat for your specific infertility diagnosis.

Now, I’m not saying you need to get rid of your favourite foods, but if you want to get pregnant swapping out a healthy option of your favourite food is a good place to start.

Many of us are eating out 40-50% of the week.

First of all this costs a lot of money.  If you are savings for IVF cutting back on your fast food consumption could save you tonnes of money.

The first step to reclaiming your health and fertility is to cook a few more meals at home.

Seems too simple?

For many of us, we have outsourced home cooking to the food industry and we wonder why we are so sick, overweight and infertility is on the rise.

Our culture has become obsessed with watching cooking shows.  We are literally hungry for home cooked food, but we have relegated it to a chore.

The thing is – processed foods are loaded with genetically modified organisms (GMO’s), glysophates (they spray this pesticide on crops).  These are all known endocrine disruptors.

GMO Foods include:

Soy, Corn, Canola, Beet Sugar, Cottenseed, Papaya, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Dairy RBGH, Alphalfa

Glyphosate sprayed crops include:

Wheat, Barley, Sugar Cane, Grapes, Legumes, Alfalfa, Sunflower, Kiwi, Raspberries, Apples, Soy, Corn

If you are trying to conceive, eliminate these foods from your diet and switch to organic.  It costs a little more in the short run, but if you are trying to have a baby and potentially considering IVF or IUI, preparing your body with the most nutritious diet possible, is a MUST.

Now this may be easier said than done, given that both partners are working outside the home and are overly scheduled.  Making a cooked meal during the week when you’ve had a hard busy day can be overwhelming.

I get it!

However, when you are spending so much money on fertility treatments, but then fuelling your body with foods that could be adversely affecting your fertility, it just doesn’t make sense.

Stay with me for a bit here!

A side benefit of home cooking is when you take back your kitchen, watch as your relationship flourishes.  Yes, eating at home can improve your connection with your partner.  As you select the meal you would like to cook, prepare the ingredients and cook together you get to reconnect.

Set a pretty table, give yourself permission to use the good china.  Put on some relaxing music and enjoy your meal together.

When we take the time to appreciate the food and the LOVE that went into preparing the food we nourish both our body and our soul.

Knowledge without ACTION is meaningless.

Stay home ONE day this week and cook and enjoy a meal with your partner.
