How To Keep The Momentum When You Are TTC

What a year we have had! That is probably not the first time you have heard this statement. Here we are we dealing with new stress from our external world changing so quickly while on our fertility journey, we have had new challenges thrown at us, new information, and practically a new lifestyle that caught us off guard. I am sure many are feeling physically, emotionally, and spiritually depleted. So, how do we keep the momentum going when we are completely fatigued?

First, give yourself a huge hug. Give yourself the much-deserved recognition of the challenges you have faced up to now. Being gentle with ourselves and using kind words imprint into the cells of our bodies. Make it a priority to always treat yourself with respect and kindness.

Your fertility journey first and foremost should be about YOU! It is not easy when we are conditioned to continually give to others and put our needs last.  It is not about being selfish, it is about honouring your needs and preserving your energy. That is what is so beautiful about a daily yoga practice. It is about making SPACE in your physical body to move energy and clear away old blockages. Yoga offers gentle stretching and movement to free the body of negative energy in the body opening up space to increase vitality. So,when we are faced with stress and fatigue, we can take on the world from a different perspective.

There is a beautiful sister to science to Yoga and that is Ayurveda. When I am feeling down in life and feel like I don’t know where to start, I turn back to my Ayurvedic practice. It is a very easy and balanced approach to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. “Ojas” is a term used that is completely devoted to self-care. Ojas support our immune, endocrine, lymphatic and digestive systems and therefore plays a vital role in our overall health and well being. Along with practicing yoga and meditation, you can increase Ojas in many ways. Here is one of my favourite ways to take care of your body to keep up your spiritual strength.

abhyanga

This is one of my favourite weekly practices. It’s believed to promote wellness and balance, along with stress relief and healthy skin. Start by warming a few ounces of sesame oil. Start massaging each part of the body from head to toe. Instantly you will start to feel relaxed while improving blood flow. Be sure to put some extra focus on your abdominal area in a clockwise motion. After you have completed this massage, take a warm bath and do not wash the oil off. When you are out of the bath, get comfortable and do some breathing exercises or meditation. I like to do this right before bed.

What do healthy Ojas feel like?

Feel refreshed upon awakening

Feel centred throughout the day

Strong Digestion

Tongue is free of coating, pink and clear

Feel enthusiastic and energized

Little body odor

Mind is clear and focused

What does it look like when Ojas are depleted?

Bad Breath

Coating on Tongue

Sluggish or irritable elimination

Slow digestion

Depressed, Anxious, Fatigued

Weak Immune

Focus on making small daily changes to your routine and keep recognizing the small steps in your journey.

Sarah Clark empowers couples to discover how lifestyle and diet can dramatically impact their chances of conceiving. She was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure at 28 and had both her kids with donor eggs. Not until years later did she discover that the root cause of her infertility was a food intolerance and later a gut infection.
