Very little is known about the human gut, and it is still a mystery to many doctors. However, the gut poses as one of the most important organs in the human body. The term “leaky gut” refers to a ranging variety of problems that can occur within this crucial organ. Many problems, though, can develop without us even being aware of it. So, you may be asking yourself what you can do to improve your gut health. Well, essential oils have been used for thousands of years in the aid of gut improvement, and is perhaps one of the most beneficial ways to treat your gut naturally.
As time has passed, this modern diet has become increasingly harmful to our guts, and it is important to ensure we are taking care of arguably one of the most important organs in our body. Problems that can occur in the gut can include bacterial imbalance and immunal damage, irritable bowel syndrome, and nausea. One of the most important aspects to understand, though, is that of beneficial bacteria within the intestines. This is because these bacteria are what lay the foundation to healthy digestion and to the immune system. Without protecting or restoring bacterial balance within the gut, remedies and healing techniques would be ineffective or short lived in their healing abilities. Fortunately though, essential oils keen to providing intestinal support are universally safe, and will presumably be a step in the right direction when striving toward holistic wellness.
However, even though these specific oils have a reputation of benefiting overall gut health, it is always advised to use caution when embarking upon disease states and in intestinal treatment. It is also worthy to note that essential oils are one of the purest forms of botanical medicine, and can have very potent effects. So it is always good to be as careful as you can when using these powerful treatments. But once you learn how these medicines affect you, there is no turning back — and your love for essential oils is sure to only grow.
It may not seem like issues such as anxiety, depression, rashes, acne, autoimmune disease, irritable bowel syndrome could be related to infertility. As we begin to heal the gut using a combination of diet, lifestyle and nutritional therapies we get to the root cause of infertility.
Below I have listed some common oils used to aid in leaky gut and in related gastrointestinal ailments:
Peppermint – this oil is commonly known for its digestive easement properties and its cooling and relaxing nature. Specifically, peppermint is known to calm the stomach, rid the intestines of bad bacteria and harmful toxins, and to promote the production and secretion of bile (which in turn leads to more efficient digestion). By ridding the intestines of bad bacteria, the probability of infection is lowered and overall health is improved.
Thyme – is arguable the most beneficial oil in terms of gut health. This is because a main component within Thyme is that of Thymol, a chemical very efficient in suppressing the pathogens housed within the small intestine. This oil poses to be very beneficial in suppressing the chances of infection and in protecting the gut’s beneficial bacteria.
Lavender – perhaps one of the most commonly known oil in the world, lavender essential oil is said to have one of the broadest scopes of treatment — leaky gut being included in that. Lavender is a respectfully beneficial remedy in reducing inflammation and in soothing the digestive tract. For not only does this oil bring about healing actions within the gut, but also acts to soothe and improve digestion by protecting beneficial bacteria and reducing the levels of bad bacteria.
