Today I’m welcoming Julia Deppe to the podcast.

We’re digging into how to cook a fertility diet like a chef.

Julia created the recipes for the Fab Fertile Cookbook and Fertility Preparation Program (elimination diet).

Upon being “prescribed” a new diet [sans gluten, dairy, and a slew of other foods] Julia hesitantly embraced the change, and began experimenting in her Brooklyn apartment.  She soon realized it wasn’t impossible to enjoy eating within the given restraints, and decided to focus on providing others – struggling to navigate their own health hurdles – with satisfying, feel-good food.

A shift from the photo world – and subsequent training and certification from The Natural Gourmet Institute in 2012 – led Julia to a variety of NYC’s plant-based, gluten-free, and dairy-free kitchens.

Julia developed the opening cafe menu and managed the kitchen of Philadelphia’s first organic, plant-based, gluten-free and dairy-free eatery. Julia now resides in Oakland (CA), where she creates healthful, personalized, allergy-friendly meals.  She volunteers with Cooking Matters food education programs and is a chef for First Descents adventure programs – cooking plant-focused meals for young adults impacted by cancer. One of the most popular questions I hear is – what do I eat to boost my fertility naturally!  As you know I believe in a personalized diet.  We use food sensitivity testing and then have our 1:1 clients start with an elimination diet.  Switching your diet to foods that actually work for your body can be tough (I know this firsthand – I’m gluten free, dairy free and corn free).  Many people ask what do I eat?  In beginning I struggled…I didn’t know what to eat.  I was starving…dealing with crazy cravings and missing my favourite foods.  As I slowly began to heal my body…I began to feel better!

As you may know I didn’t figure out the food sensitivity link to fertility….until years later.  Please know that if you are still cycling naturally there are steps we can take.  Eating a fertility friendly diet does not need to suck!   I literally could have talked to Julia all day!  She makes food sound so delicious. It is not about depravation it is about nourishing your body in the absolute BEST way to prepare your body for a baby!
